Description
If you earned your doctorate less than four years ago and if you want to enhance your networking and collaboration skills, the AMCIS 2005 MIS Camp is the place for you! A select group of MIS scholars will guide you and the other participants through a set of exercises and discussions about networking and collaboration. The MIS Camp consists of a panel, interactive sessions, and other exercises built around discussions of what it means to be successful in the academy. A high ratio of counselors to campers will ensure rich interaction and quality networking.
Potential campers include AIS members beginning their second or third year in an academic position in the Fall of 2005. MIS Camp has been very successful in the past, partly because it allows new faculty to share their experiences at their new institution with peers from other institutions. If you have attended MIS camp before, please do NOT apply.
All campers must be registered for the conference. In order to keep this experience an intimate one, attendance is limited to 32 people. Notice that the camp is the day before the regular program begins, so you should plan to arrive in Omaha City in enough time to begin bright and early Thursday morning. The camp won't be very valuable unless you are able to participate in the entire day!
We hope MIS Camp sounds interesting for junior faculty members! It should be educational and we have promised the counselors that it will also be fun.
To be part of MIS Camp, you will have to register for the AMCIS Conference. You will be able to indicate on this conference registration form that you would like to attend MIS Camp - but you must also apply and be accepted.
If you would like to attend MIS Camp, please fill in our application form for downloading and EMAIL it to Blake Ives (bives@mac.com) by April 11, 2005. Those campers who can be accommodated in the camp will be notified by May 11, 2005.
